After an abysmal start to the 2024-25 campaign where they lost two games in succession against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers respectively the Sacramento Kings then went on a commanding run in their next three games as they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers at home, before dispatching the likes of the Utah Jazz and the Atlanta Hawks on the road to kick start their season with a 3-2 record in the league. 

The Kings who qualified for the playoffs during the 2022-23 season after 16 long seasons had a disappointing end to their 2023-24 season last year as they qualified for the play-in but were eliminated by the New Orleans Pelicans after initially triumphing over the 10th placed Golden State Warriors.

Now having resigned Malik Monk and adding the star power of Demar DeRozan to their lineup during the off season the Sacramento Kings will be looking to go further this time out as they do have a stacked roster with the likes of DeAaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis and Keegan Murray but will need to find the consistency as they haven’t gone on a three win streak. 

After the Toronto Raptors broke theirs when they traveled North after their win against the Atlanta Hawks. While they did get their revenge on the Ontario side when they traveled to California the Kings beat the Miami Heat right before this fixture as they took their record to 5 wins and three losses.

Welcoming their fellow Californian rivals in the Los Angeles Clippers in their next game the Kings lost to the San Diego side by a score of 107-98 before traveling to Arizona and snapping the Phoenix Sun’s 7-game winning streak in overtime. Despite having many highs, the inconsistency is a huge problem for the Sacramento side who after handing a huge loss to the Suns traveled to the low-lying Spurs and lost by a margin of 116-96.

While the Phoenix Suns may not be as inconsistent as the Sacramento Kings the Arizona side will be fuelled with rage and sense of revenge as it was the Sacramento Kings that broke their 7-game winning streak in overtime bringing end to a fantastic start to the season and leaving them in second place in the Western Conference after having led the three horse race between themselves, the OKC Thunder and the Golden State Warriors for the past few weeks. 

Unlike the Eastern Conference where the Cleveland Cavaliers have been leading the proceedings with a huge margin the West on the other hand has three teams with a similar record and while the OKC climbed above the Suns after playing an extra game last night the Suns can get their top spot right back if they are to win against the Sacramento Kings which will be a sweet note as it was the Kings that stole the top spot from them few days ago. 

Having started the season with back-to-back games in Los Angeles against the Clippers and the Lakers the Suns returned from LA with a 1-1 record as they won their first game against the Clippers but weren’t so lucky against the Lakers as they were beaten by the Golden and Purple side by a score of 123-116. This defeat was the only one they suffered in the month of October.

 As the Phoenix side then went on a 7-game winning streak during which they beat the likes of the Dallas Mavericks, took revenge against the Los Angeles Lakers, made it 2-0 against the Clippers and the Mavericks before beating the Miami Heat, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Philadelphia 76ers in a space of two weeks. With the Sacramento team being the only one that has beaten them this month the Suns side will be looking to avenge their loss and return to the top of the conference.
