Canterbury Kings Preview

Cole McConchie's side won for the second time in the season as they defeated Auckland Aces by 14 runs in the last game. However, they sit fifth on the points table and need to win this game to move up. They had defeated the Knights in their first game, and McConchie shall want his players to draw inspiration from that win.  

Chad Bowes and Ken McClure have to do well in this game, as the side hasn't seen many big partnerships at the top. The middle order has also lacked consistency, and they will expect runs from Leo Carter, Cole McConchie, and Cam Fletcher. Mitchell Hay and ZG Foulkes must  

Ed Nuttall and William O'Rourke have to bowl good spells with the new ball, as the Knights have quality players up the order. Todd Astle is an experienced bowler, and he will need to stop the flow of runs in the middle overs with Angus MckNezie. McConchie and Foulkes have to do well in the supporting role.

Northern Knights Preview

Jeet Raval and his men had to share the points in the last game against the Otago Volts after it was washed away by rain. The side has won two games and needs to find form as the tournament enters its most crucial stage. They lost to the Kings earlier in the season, and Raval will like his side to bounce back here.  

Katene Clarke has scored runs and will need to offer a good start with Tim Seifert. Jeet Raval must anchor the middle order and build partnerships with Henry Cooper and Frederick Walker, which they have failed so far. The side shall like to see runs from Peter Bocock and Brett Hampton in the lower middle order.  

On the bowling front, the team will need good performances from Zak Gibson and Tim Pringle with the new ball. Katene Clarke hasn't got his lines right, and he must do well in the middle overs with Joe Clarke. The side will also look for a good show from Frederick Walker and Hampton.

There would be cloudy skies over Christchurch on January 13. Fast bowlers will enjoy these conditions as they get the ball to move. The wicket is flat, and it allows batsmen to play their strokes. The side batting first in this game shall be eying 160 runs on the board, which will be a good total.

Venue Details

Hagley Oval, Christchurch, is a small ground and the shorter square boundaries and this offers a great advantage to the batsmen who can play their strokes. But it is a very challenging venue for the spinners as the wicket doesn't offer much spin and bounce. There is some assistance for the fast bowlers early on in the innings.
