The West Indies hit back hard in the 2nd T20I of the 3-match series against India and registered a thumping 8-wicket win. Chasing a tough target of 171 on a sticky wicket, the West Indian power hitters showed their might once again and punished the Indian bowlers to win the game with 9 balls to spare. They had shown their batting power in the 1st T20I as well but lost the game due to a masterclass by Virat Kohli.

However, a sloppy and scratchy India couldn't stop the West Indies again. The series is now level 1-1 with the decider to be played on December 11 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Despite playing at home, India once again looked unsure. They dropped catches and gave away plenty of runs which cost them dearly. Their bowling sans Jasprit Bumrah looks uninspiring and their batting certainly lacks the meat required in a T20 game. Unless one of the top-order batsmen plays big innings in the last game, Team India might be staring at an embarrassing series loss at home against an inspiring West Indies.

India Preview

Team India's batting performance was good in the 2nd T20I. They posted a solid 170 runs on the board buoyed by a superb 54 by all-rounder Shivam Dube. However, once again India failed to finish a T20I innings with a flourish. They only managed 77 runs in the last 10 overs which is way below par and that is what proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Opener Rohit Sharma and middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer have failed in both the matches so far and would really need to quickly come good if India hopes to win the last match. Rishabh Pant played a decent hand but didn't look convincing.

India's bowling, meanwhile, was pedestrian and simply had no answers to the West Indian batting might. It didn't help that India dropped two crucial catches of both the openers inside the Powerplay itself. Regardless, Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar, and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled well only in patches. In fact, the West Indian spinners extracted more purchase out of the surface than the home team. Ravindra Jadeja has done nothing of note with the ball and his position will be in question now. The unit, as a whole, doesn't look settled and that is a worrying sign.

India Predicted Playing XI:

Virat Kohli, YS Chahal, Shreyas Iyer, Lokesh Rahul, Deepak Chahar, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Shivam Dube

West Indies Preview

West Indies just loves playing this format. Their batsmen enjoy playing on good batting surfaces in India and in both the matches of the series they have made merry. Lendl Simmons, who missed out in the first game, made full use of his dropped catch and scored a fabulous match-winning 67* off 45 balls in the second game. Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer were also among the runs. And wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran, who made a return after serving his ban, made a terrific contribution of 38* off 18 balls.

Brandon King and Kieron Pollard down the order give the West Indies further strength and this dangerous batting unit will be tough for India to stop in the 3rd T20I.

West Indies also did well on the bowling front this time with fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell again leading the way with a fine performance. Khary Pierre, Kesrick Williams, and Hayden Walsh also did well and did not let the Indian batsmen getaway. This is a very good sign for the visitors and makes the West Indies even more dangerous.

Kieron Pollard, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Khary Pierre, Nicholas Pooran, Hayden Walsh, Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder, Kesrick Williams, LMP Simmons, Evin Lewis

Weather Conditions

The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has always been a belter and we can expect another flat deck for the 3rd T20I between India and the West Indies. The average score batting first here is 187. Hence, you can expect a high-scoring game with plenty of fours and sixes. The surface will remain true throughout and should get better for batting in the 2nd innings. The weather for the matchday is expected to be pleasant and cool.

Venue Details

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has produced some high-scoring T20 games. Totals of 200-plus have been scored on three instances here with the highest total achieved being 230-8 by England against South Africa in 2016. India and the West Indies had played the semi-finals of the 2016 ICC World T20 at the Wankhede Stadium. In that high-scoring game, West Indies had chased down India's target of 193 with ease.

Toss: To Bowl

Both the matches in this series have been won by the team batting second. Hence, the team which wins the toss will be bowling first again. Chasing will be much easier on a flat surface and especially with dew setting in during the second innings.

Though they are playing at home, India looks scratchy and unsure of how to play a T20 game. The West Indies, on the other hand, absolutely thrive in this format and keep hitting hard even when they are down. They would be happy that they ended their 7-matching losing spree in T20Is against India after winning the last game. And would hence be entering the final match with great confidence.

Furthermore, many of the West Indian players have played at the Wankhede Stadium regularly courtesy the IPL and know the surface pretty well. Their power-packed lineup will be licking their lips at the prospect of playing on this batting paradise at Mumbai. They are likely to bulldoze the lackluster Indian bowling unit again and it would take something miraculous from India to stop them.
