Rangpur Riders will take on Rajshahi Kings in the 13th match of the Bangladesh Premier League 2019. The season has been a mixed bag so far for the Rangpur Riders who have won two out of their four games and sitting second on the points table. For the Rajshahi Kings the season so far has not been quite king-like as they have lost two games out of three and are currently in the bottom half of the table. 

This will be a very important game for both the sides specially Rajshahi Kings who would be wanting their two points from the game to avoid a bad season like they had in the last edition of the league.

It was heartbreak for Mashrafe Mortaza’s team as they went down by just 2 runs in a high scoring encounter against Dhaka Dynamites in their last game. They would like to put this behind and win the next game. 

The batting line-up looks solid for the side with Chris Gayle and Mehedi Maruf at the top though both of them are yet to set the scoreboard on fire. Rilee Rossouw is in great form and the top run getter so far in the season. Mohammad Mithun also looks in good nick and Ravi Bhopara has also show his form. If the combination clicks we may have a run feast on the cards. 

Bowling was a big let-down in the last game as apart from Mashrafe Mortaza and Benny Howell most of the bowlers went for too many runs. Nazmul Islam kept bowling the wrong line while Shafiul Islam despite picking wickets has been expensive in almost all the games so far. The skipper would expect his bowlers to tighten their line to win the next game.

Rajshahi Kings Preview

Apart from the win they had against Khulna Titans in their second game Mehidy Hasan’s team doesn’t have much to be proud about having lost to Dhaka Dynamites and Comilla Victorians

They batted poorly in the last game not even completing their quota of overs. The decision to push Mohammad Hafeez down the order and the skipper Hassan up was surprising though the skipper was the top scorer. Apart from Zakir Hasan none of the other batsmen made much of contributions. Soumya Sarkar and Mominul Haque got out cheaply so did Laurie Evans. These guys will have to bat well for them to win the next game. 

The bowlers did well to put up a fight with their star bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hassan both bowling tight spells as did Hafeez which will give confidence to the side. Isuru Udana has also had a good tournament so far and they need to bring out their best performance to win the next game.

Weather Conditions

It should be a bright and sunny afternoon in Dhaka on January 13 with pleasant winter temperature. Being an afternoon game the pitch might have some juice in the early overs but otherwise it should a good surface to bat on in both the innings and this should make it a high scoring game. 

VENUE

It is a perfect venue for a T20 game where there is something for the batting as well as the bowling sides. There have been some huge scores put up at this ground so far thanks to the smaller squares. Spinners have found good assistance from the track and they are always in the game. 

Toss: To Bat

Toss isn’t likely to play a huge role in the game since it is an early afternoon start and there is no possibility of dew. But so far in the tournament sides batting first have won most of the afternoon games at this ground. It is good to bat first after winning the toss and setting score for the opponents to chase.
