Sylhet Sixers would play against Rajshahi Kings in the 29th game of the Bangladesh Premier League 2019 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram which will be hosting the first game of the season.

Sixers are in terrible form and have lost their last three games and have won just two so far in the season. For the Kings results have been mixed results so far as they have four wins in eight games. 

It will be a great opportunity for Rajshahi Kings to win the game and rise up on the points table taking them close to playoffs. Sixers who are almost out of the playoff contention would have to play for pride in the upcoming game.

Sohail Tanvir their new skipper had to start his captaincy with a loss. The last loss against Khulna Titans would have hurt the side as it was the third straight one and has pushed them to the bottom of the table. 

Liton Das and Sabbir Rahman didn't offer the best of start to the side and Das' form has become a concern now. Affif Hossain and Nicholas Pooran also batted well for the cameos but the star for the side was Mohammad Nawaz. In the upcoming game lot would depend on how the openers start the game for the side. 

The bowling has been wayward for the team in the last couple of games as they have failed to apply pressure on their opponents and failed to maintain a tight line. Sohal Tanvir and Taskin Ahmed were all over the place and Mohammad Irfan too looked in poor tough. Alok Kapali and Mohammad Nawad bowled well though and the skipper would hope for a better bowling performance going into the next game.

Rajshahi Kings Preview

The team almost threw away their last game against Chittagong Vikings after being in command for most parts of it. They would not want to repeat the same mistakes especially in the death overs while bowling in the upcoming game. 

Laurie Evans played a great knock in the last game. Soumya Sarkar the other opener isn’t in the best form which would be worrying the side. Ryan ten Doeschate and Christiaan Jonker played well in the last game but the side would expect better performance from Marshell Ayub and wicketkeeper Zakir Hasan in the upcoming game to go ahead in the points table.

It is the bowlers who have been in brilliant form for the side though they had a poor outing in the last game. Arafat Sunny and Qais Ahmad bowled brilliantly in the last game though their skipper Mehidy Hasan had a bad day by his own standards. But the worrying factor for the side has been the form of Mustafizur Rahman who hasn't been delivering the kind of results he was expected to in the last few games.

Weather Conditions

It is the first game on a fresh pitch so the fast bowlers might be able to extract some seam out of it in the initial overs. Spinners should come into play in the second innings of the game. As far as weather conditions are concerned the forecast is for a clear sky on January 25 with hot and humid conditions.

Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram will be hosting the first game of the season. It isn’t a ground for slam bang kind of play but suited for players who like building on their innings. Spinners have got good rewards out of this pitch in the past and hence we should have a well-contested game on our hands.

It is an afternoon game on a new surface. There might be something for the bowlers in the initial overs but if they hold their innings together they would be able to score runs on this wicket. With Bangladesh’s infamous dew out of question the side winning the flip of the coin should bat first.
