West Ham United FC vs Brentford FC Match Prediction & Analysis

For everything that David Moyes has done well so far at West Ham, a Premier League manager is never too far away from facing rumours about the sack.

The press questioned Moyes about his position this week, after a series of five defeats from their last six in the league. Naturally, he said that he has the full support of the owners, but that will only stretch so far.

He has assembled a strong team at West Ham and they have underachieved this season. Now at home, he will hope to use the support of the fans to drive the Hammers to their first league win since October 24th.

On the other hand, Brentford are very deserving of their place in midtable, within touching distance of the likes of Chelsea, Brighton and Liverpool.

Having gone 2-0 up against Tottenham in their last game, they will be disappointed to come away with a draw. However, their attacking firepower means that they’ll be a problem for any team.

     Lost home and away to Brentford last season

     Could lose five games in a row for the first time since 2017

With the players West Ham have at their disposal, you feel they are serious underachievers this season. They have been on the verge of European spots over the past few years but face a challenge to come close here.

Against Arsenal in their first game since the restart, the Hammers were all over the place. Arsenal were brilliant at pressing them and playing through them quickly, but Moyes’ men didn’t look at it at all.

On the positive side, they have been much better at home than away this campaign, collecting three of their four wins and 10 of their 14 points at the London Stadium.

They will need their fans if they are to collect three points here.

On the flip side, they lost to Brentford last season on both occasions and have just one victory from their last six meetings with the West London side.

They need their big players to turn up here.

Has three goals in his last five appearances and is a driving force for the Hammers, often playing down the left-hand side. It was his goal that opened the scoring against Arsenal, only for it all to fall apart for West Ham.

Like West Ham, Brentford are a much better team when playing at home than they are away. 

The Bees have collected just seven of their 20 points away from the Gtech Community Stadium and certainly feel the absence of their fantastic support on their travels.

However, they have the firepower to trouble this unsettled West Ham team. The Bees have lost to one of their last six meetings against the Hammers, and beat them home and away last season.

They will take encouragement from the way they powered into the lead against Spurs, scoring twice before the visitors had a chance to settle. They are unbeaten in all 17 games where they have taken the lead.

A point here would cement their top-half credentials, but a win would really put them in the mix with the big boys.
