Patna Pirates made the biggest kill of the season when they tamed the defending champions in their last game. They did something that others could not. It was their first win of the season and it was the first loss that Dabang Delhi had to face. But winning a big match doesn’t give you any additional points as the Pirates will have to keep winning all their games. They will be up against the mighty Bulls who have jumped to the 3rd spot in the points table due to their awesome teamwork.

Patna Pirates could beat Dabang Delhi only because the defense of the defending champions had a bad day at the office. All-rounder Rohit Gulia is in top form while their captain Neeraj Kumar was among points after a long time.

Bengaluru Bulls have always had superstars in their lineup, be it Rohit Kumar or Pawan Sehrawat. But this season they have come up with a new “mantra”, one for all and all for one. Without any top stars, the Bulls have pulled off some amazing victories. They are currently placed 3rd in the points table after 6 games. Raiders Bharat and Vikash Kandola have collectively earned 110 raid points including 5 Super 10’s. This has given their defense a buffer in most of the games.

Their defense has also been innovative and lethal. Left corner Saurav Nandal is on the list of top10 defenders with 18 successful tackles in 6 games which is quite impressive. Aman and Mahendra Singha have supported Saurav quite well while right-cover Rajneesh and Mayur Kadam have been slightly inconsistent.

The best part about the Bulls is that they find innovative ways to earn raid points or earn tackle points. In their last game against U Mumba, they had a tough time dealing with an inform Mumba defense. Still, raider Bharat managed to earn 16 raid points in that match. This took off the pressure on the Bulls and they won the match by a margin of 10 points. 

The Bulls have earned 131 team raid points while conceding 214. They have inflicted 12 all-outs while conceding 10. They will look at improving these numbers.

The Bulls do not enjoy a great record against the Pirates. They have been able to beat them only 5 times out of their 19 encounters. But those were the days when the Pirates have superstars like Pardeep Narwal and Monu Goyat. Times have changed as this season there is a huge gap between the Bulls and the Pirates which is evident even in the points table.

The Patna Pirates look like a shadow of themselves in season 9. Gone are the days when the Pirates ruled the mat and decimated their opponents. It is all coming back as most of the teams have routed them with ease. The Pirates have won just 1 game this season which was against the mighty Dabang Delhi. This will definitely lift their spirits as they need a boost to make a grand comeback.

All-rounder Rohit Gulia has been impressive with his raiding as well as assists. Sachin Tanwar has been blunted as most of the opponents have found ways to trap him. He will need to come up with new methods to escape. This is common in the PKL as stars like Pardeep Narwal, Monu Goyat, Siddharth Desai, and Sachin Tanwar are decoded very quickly and their same moves look ordinary as their opponents start trapping them together.

The biggest issue with the Patna Pirates has been their defense. Captain Neerja Kumar has not been able to deliver though he came to the party against the defending champions. Left corner Mohemmedreza is warming up this season but he is not yet as lethal as he was in the last season. 

Patna Pirates have conceded 219 team points while earning just 112. They have been all-out 10 times in 6 games while having been able to inflict only 6. Their successful team tackle percentage is a meager 29 %. All these numbers do not give us much hope. But the 3-time champions and runners-up of the last season can bounce back anytime. They have already given a glimpse of their capabilities in their last game when they tamed Dabang Delhi. 

The Pirates enjoy a fantastic record over the Bulls and they will like to improve it further. Winning against the Bulls will be vital for their health as Patna needs to start chalking out plans for a quiet but grand return. They are currently placed 11th in the points table after 6 games and it will take them a lot of hard work to first get in the top 6 and then try and jump ahead.

This match will be very crucial for the Patna Pirates.

This will be a contest between teamwork and individual brilliance. The Patna Pirates are still dependent on individuals like Rohit Gulia, Sachin Tanwar, and Mohemmedreza. They have not yet delivered as a team. Sachin Tanwar and Rohit will earn nicely but defenders Sunil and Manish may not be effective.

The Bulls will unleash Bharat and Vikash onto the Pirates. Both raiders will exploit the brittle Patna defense and score heavily. Aman and Saurav Nandal will have special plans to hunt Rohit Gulia as that will break the back of the Pirates earnings. 

Both teams have different styles and both teams have different goals currently. The Bulls want to consolidate their position at the top of the points table while Patna Pirates has to work towards moving towards the top 6 inch by inch.
