Clash of the former champions at this point of time in the tournament is expected to be an entertaining one. After losing 3 straight matches, the Bengal Warriors staged a comeback by winning consecutive matches. On the other hand, the Bengaluru Bulls prevailed in a tough match against the Patna Pirates. It was a jackpot for them as the Pirates gifted them the match with some last minute tactical errors. Both teams have a tough road ahead as they have won 5 out of their 12 matches. Hence this match is quite significant for both.

The return of Maninder Singh was a big boost for the Bengal Warriors. He and raider Nitin Kumar scored a Super 10 in their last match against the UP Yodha. The match went down the wire as the Warriors held their nerve to win by 5 points. The Benglauru Bulls are still totally dependent on their defense for points. None of their regular raiders were able to impress in the last match against the Pirates. All-rounder Sachin Narwal had to do the bulk of raiding as he earned a total of 9 points. Hence the Bulls will find it very difficult to handle the Warriors.

Bengal Warriors Preview

Former champions have got back to winning ways. This was due to the return of their star performer Maninder Singh. Is this the moment where the Warriors will come back with a bang in the top 5? Only time will tell. But the Bengal Warriors have been quite scratchy throughout the season. Even though they have the best raider, Maninder Singh and one of the best defenders, Shubham Shinde. The Warriors have won 5 out of their 12 matches while they had settled for a TIE in couple of games. They are placed 7th in the points table with not much of a difference between them and three above them in terms of points.

But Bengal has to win all their remaining matches with a good margin in order to comfortably sail into the play-off. This is possible if they continue delivering as a unit.  The Warriors had a tough outing against the UP Yodha in their last match. Maninder scored 14 points while young Nitin Singh scored a Super 10. All their defenders were in top form as they somehow managed to tame the marauding Pardeep Narwal. Bengal was ahead by 7 points till half-time but conceding 2 all-outs in the latter half of the match. It came down to the final few raids as the Bengal defenders held their nerve to snatch a 5 point victory. But old issue still trouble the Warriors as they get ready to take on the Bengaluru Bulls. Drop in intensity and conceding all-outs at crucial moments has hampered their growth.

Bengal Warriors have conceded 456 points in 12 matches. Though they have inflicted 16 all-outs in 12 matches, they have also conceded 17 which totally nullifies their advantage. Hence the Bengal Warriors have lost 5 matches in the season. Due to this negligence they were forced to settle for a TIE in 2 games. The Warriors need to overcome these issues urgently as the season moves into its second half.

Bengal had a tough time against the Bulls earlier in the season. They defeated them by just 2 points in the match played on 4th December 2023. Overall the Warriors have won 12 out of their 21 encounters with the Bulls. Hence this will not be an easy outing for them. Considering the struggle that the Bulls are going through, the Bengal Warriors will certainly plan to trap them in the “Mini” Maninder hurricane!!

Bengaluru Bulls Preview

The Bengaluru Bulls have been through a disastrous season. They are totally out of sync and out of ideas. Former champions are placed 8th in the points table after playing 12 matches. They have been able to win just 5 matches this season. Most of their time is utilized in trying out different combinations as most of their playing 7 is out of form. The raiding has been inconsistent while their defenders have been slippery. The Bulls have an efficiency of just about 33% in team raids while their success rate in team tackles is about 43%. One can still say that their defense has been a face saver. But their biggest concern has been their raiding.

Fortunately, the Bulls have 3 out of their last 5 matches but they still lack the consistency. They defeated the Patna Pirates in a high voltage match earlier in the week. Their defense was sensational but their raiding was inversely proportional. Defenders Surjeet and left corner Ran Singh were in devastating form as they earned 12 tackle points between them. Surjeet scored a Hi 5 as both defenders sandwiched the Patna raiders with their audacious moves. Only the Bengaluru raiders could have complemented them. The Bulls have not been able to solve their raiding puzzle. Against the Pirates, it was all-rounder Sachin Narwal who scored more raid points than the regulars. It has been 12 matches that the Bulls have not been able to forge a decent raiding combination.

This will be their biggest concern as they take on the Bengal Warriors. This is a must win game for the Bulls. But even if their defenders are able to regulate the Bengal raiders, their own raiders may not be able to earn much. The Benglauru Bulls too do not have too many raiding options in their squad. None of their raiders are in the top 10 this season. The Bulls lost to the Warriors by 2 points at the beginning of the season. Their raiders could not earn enough in that match. That disease still continues to haunt the Bulls. They need to win this match at any cost in order to maintain hopes to finish in the top 5.

Welcome to the bout between former champions who are stranded in the bottom half of the points table this season. Both teams are in a desperate situation as they have won just 5 games in the season. The Bengaluru Bulls have a lot of issues to sort out. They are surviving hand to mouth with their raiding. They will struggle against the strong Bengal defense. None of their raiders will be able to score a Super 10. The Bengaluru defense may be their savior with Captain Saurabh Nandal, Surjeet and Ran Singh operating in unison. Two of them will score a Hi 5. But they will have to work overtime to regulate the Bengal raiders, especially Maninder Singh.

The Bengal Warriors have a slight advantage as the trio of Maninder, Nitin and Srikant Jadav will earn handsomely. Defenders Shubham Shinde, Vaibhav Garje and S Aditya will be spot on with their tackles. Bengal Warriors will inflicted at least 2 all-outs in the match. The second half of the match will be entertaining as the Bengaluru Bulls may leak points due to unforced errors. The Bengal Warriors look stronger than their opponents, but one never knows when any team could breakdown on the mat.

Bengal Warriors will win.
