After 134 games of blood, sweat and tears, 4 best teams of the season who will lock horns for the coveted title. Patna Pirates, UP Yodha, Dabang Delhi and the Bengaluru Bulls have been the best from the rest. Patna Pirates and Dabang Delhi moved into the semi-finals as they finished first and second respectively in the points table. Both teams were in the top 3 almost throughout the season. Dabang Delhi were unbeatable in their first 10 games while the Bulls took some time to dominate as Pawan Sehrawat was slow to start. Dabang Delhi were riding on Naveen Express while the Bulls were winning consistently. Naveen was injured mid-season and the Bulls hammered Dabang Delhi in the 50th league game of the season. But as fate would have it, the Bulls had a torrid time in their last 5 games which resulted in them slipping down the points table consistently. At one point it looked as if they might miss the bus for the next stage.
Dabang Delhi moved in to the semi-finals directly while the Bulls had to take the eliminator route. They beat the Gujarat Fortune Giants effortlessly by 20 points. It was an all-round performance by the Bulls in raiding as well as defence. It will be a DoD match for both the teams who have entertained all their fans throughout the season.
Dabang Delhi came into the season with an itch, an unfulfilled dream. They lost to the Bengal Warriors in the finals of the last season. Every match they played in this season was about payback. Now they have reached the semi-finals and they will meet rivals and former champions Bengaluru Bulls. Dabang Delhi dominated the mat due to the young Naveen Express. He decimated every defender that came in his way. Veteran Ajay Thakur was benched very early in the season, but veteran defenders Manjit Chillar, Jeeva Kumar and Joginder Narwal handled the defence while Naveen Kumar was busy looting points in every match. Dabang were unbeatable till they lost to the Telegu Titans. In the meanwhile Naveen Kumar was injured and that had a spiral effect on Dabang’s performance. But their saviour was all-rounder Vijay who lead from the front and kept earning raid points. Dabang Delhi got back in the groove and ended up 2nd in the points table at the end of the league, thus qualifying directly for the semi-finals. Now they face old foes Bengaluru Bulls. They have clashed multiple times over the years and every encounter has been epic. Dabang will have to work out a plan to keep Pawan Sehrawat at bay. Dabang have not used Sandeep Narwal to his potential. The defence is driven by play-maker Manjit Chillar while left corner Joginder Narwal has been inspirational. Defender Krishnan Dhull has been a revelation off late his addition to the starting 7 helps a lot. Raiding is taken care by Naveen and Vijay. Even though Naveen missed out on 7 games due to injury, he was still able to earn 180 points from 15 games. Manjit Chillar has executed 46 successful tackles in 22 games though none of the Dabang defenders feature in the top 10 list.
Dabang Delhi beat the Patna Pirates in their penultimate league game and that was a huge boost to them. They will try to recreate that magic against the Bulls whom they have tamed once this season. This will be another step for the Dabang towards the finals as they have to avenge their loss in the finals in the last season.
Former Champions Bengaluru Bulls have been one of the best teams in the tournament along with Dabang Delhi and the Pirates. Hi flyer Pawan Sehrawat has led the team with style and swag and no wonder he is the highest grosser of the season. He has earned 274 points from 220 successful raids in the league stage. But then the Bulls have been domesticated in their last 5 games where they could win only 2 out of 5. They ended at the 5th spot in the points table as their fans almost had an heart attack. They have reached the semi-finals via the eliminators where they beat the Gujarat Fortune Giants. Now they will meet their old rivals Dabang Delhi.
Raiders Chanran Ranjit gave good support to Pawan in the first half of the tournament. Post his injury, raider Bharat has been the torch bearer apart from GB More. Hence the raiding department is sorted. Their defenders have also performed well. Defenders Aman, Saurabh Nandal and Ankit have been consistent apart from an odd blemish. But their performance in the last few games was a cause of worry for their coach. But their performance in the eliminator was clinical as Pawan earned 13 raid points while Chandran Ranjit and Bharat added another 13 raid points. Their defence was able to earn 16 tackle points along with inflicting 3 all-outs.
Some facts after playing 22 games:
Highest successful raids-395
Super Tackles- 23
All out inflicted- 31
Highest raid points – 487
The Bulls hammered Dabang Delhi in their first encounter while they were forced to tie the next one. This means they have not lost to Dabang Delhi in this season!!!!! The Bulls have to be vary of Naveen Express. Even if they isolate Naveen, the tall, strapping Bharat can be a headache. Pawan Sehrawat will have to be careful about defenders Manjit and Krihsnan Dhull. This will the penultimate test for the Bulls as they will be looking forward to win the title for the second time.
Sit back, relax and get set for a thriller as Dabang Delhi take on the Bengaluru Bulls in the second semi-final. There is very little to choose between these teams who have their own swag. This will be a face-off between Naveen Express and Hi Flyer Pawan Sehrawat. Both raiders are highly talented and they have won the hearts of millions of fans.
Both teams have had a blip in their defence once in a while. But they can’t afford it any more. Dabang Delhi have not beaten the Bulls this season and they will be gunning for them. Defenders Sandeep Narwal and Manjit Chillar will have to be careful about their unforced errors. Naveen Kumar will be expected to reap a healthy harvest but Dabang will have to be prepared for contingencies too. Bulls will solely depend on Pawan Sehrawat. Their defence looks a bit stronger as Saurabh Nandal and Mohit have been accurate and lethal. The fun would be if both teams are able to keep Naveen and Pawan off the mat for long. Else this will be a point harvest as both teams would be hungry for a shot at the title.
Dabang Delhi will win.
