The northern debry will take place at the Sree Kanteerva Indoor stadium as the caravan moves from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru. After a scratchy start to the season, Haryana Steelers thrashed the Bengaluru Bulls to register their first victory of the season. Though none of their raiders scored a Super 10, it was the Haryana defense which came to the party. Captain Jaideep and left corner Mohit were deadly and precise as both registered a Hi 5 thus choking their opponents.

Dabang Delhi got conned by the Tamil Thalaiva in their first encounter of the season. They beat the Bengaluru Bulls effortlessly in their last match thus earning their first points of the season. Captain Naveen Kumar and Ashu Malik both scored a Super 10. Defenders Himmat Antil and veteran Vishal Bharadwaj scored 7 tackle points between them to help their team win the game.

The Northern derby will be an entertaining match as both teams will attack relentlessly. Expect fireworks this winter.

Dabang Delhi K.C. Preview

Former champions had a lukewarm start to the season as they fumbled in their first match. Dabang Delhi were outwitted by Tamil Thalaiva. But captain Naveen Kumar and company had other plans as they avenged this defeat by thrashing the Bengaluru Bulls. Dabang won that match by a margin of 7 points thus setting up the northern derby clash with Haryana Steelers.

Captain Naveen Kumar and Ashu Malik complemented each other to score 23 points between them. Delhi led by half time and their team raid success rate was around 53%. Their defense was up to the mark as they inflicted 2 all-outs on the Bulls. The Dabang defense made sure that they kept on sending the Bengaluru players out of the game thus diluting their strength.

This will be the strategy needed against the Haryana Steelers too. Dabang has been historically prone to loss of intensity over the years and they can’t afford this in their next game. Fortunately captain Naveen Kuma has found his mojo. He is one of the best players in the history of PKL as he has scored 60 Super 10’s in his PKL career. He is agile and precise in his raid. He is also one of the few raiders who has mastered the frog jump and the lion jump.

Defense seems to be their strength too as left cover Himmat Antil has been impressive. Veteran Vishal Bharadwaj was scratchy in the first match but he made amends in the second game by scoring 4 tackle points. He is crucial at the left corner position but he is also prone to regular unforced errors. He did pick up a yellow card in the last game due to his aggressive antics.

The Haryana Steelers have troubled Dabang Delhi over the years. Delhi has won only 5 out of their 12 encounters though they beat the Steelers twice during the league stage last year. This will be one of the toughest match of the season for the former champions.

Haryana Steelers Preview

One of the youngest teams of the PKL is vibrant, aggressive and unpredictable. They looked listless against the UP Yodha in their opening bout as they lost the match by a margin of 30 points. It was as if the Steelers were unprepared to take on the Yodha. But Haryana bounced back sharply as they beat former champions Bengaluru Bulls effortlessly.

Such was their tenacity that their score was double that of their opponents at half-time. Raiders Siddharth Desai and Vinay worked their way through the traps set by their opponents to earn 15 raid points between them. But the highlight of the match was the venom spewing defense of the Steelers. Captain Jaideep Dahiya and left corner Mohit, both scored a Hi 5 which punctured the Bulls beyond repair.

The Haryana defense inflicted 2 all-outs before half time thus helping their team take an unassailable lead. Jaideep is one of the best defenders on the circuit. Right Cover Mohit Nandal and right corner Rahul Sethpal were equally alert and effective. Rahul was precise with his ankle holds which helped his teammates complete the tackle successfully.

Coach Manpreet was animated through the match as usual. He will be pleased with his boys as this is the flavor of the Steelers. Star raider Siddharth Desai needs to be more agile as he looks a bit slow at times. Most of the opposition teams have decoded ways to trap him collectively. Vinay has provided that additional raiding option. Yet the Steelers seem to be short of the third raider if in case Siddharth and Vinay are not able to score.

The Steelers have tried young raider Shivam Patare. They also have the option of veteran raiders like Chandran Ranjit and Prapanjan.

The Haryana Steelers have troubled Dabang Delhi as they have won 7 out of their 12 encounters. Though the Steelers were routed twice by Dabang during the league stage. Hence coach Manpreet and captain Jaideep will plan a web of effective tackles to trap and hunt down Dabang raider Naveen.

Welcome to a winter with fireworks as former champions Dabang Delhi take on Haryana Steelers. Both teams thrashed the Bengaluru Bulls in their last games. Dabang Delhi will be happy with the form of their captain Naveen Kumar. He has scored 60 Supre 10’s in his PKL career. Naveen and Ashu Malik will earn well through the match. One of them will score as Super 10. Third raider Meetu Sharma may not be effective enough.

Defender Himmat Antil will hunt Siddharth Desai but left corner Vishal Bharadwaj may be sloppy. Dabang Delhi’s defense may run out of steam in the second half.

Haryana Steelers will hurry through their raids in the first half. Siddharth Desai may not be very effective but he will complement raider Vinay. Haryana will depend on their defenders more than the raiders. Captain Jaideep and left corner Mohit will attack Naveen Kumar early in the match to keep him off the mat. Coach Manpreet will surely use his cunning ways to slow down the pace of the match midway through the first half.

This will be an exciting contest but it may be a low scoring match.

Haryana Steelers will win.
