Dabang Delhi were struck by bad luck as their star player Naveen Kumar was sidelined due to injury. Following that Joginder Narwal was out for a few games. This made the Dabang’s look like sitting ducks and they lost back to back matches. But since they have recovered well as they beat Gujarat Fortune Giants in their last game.

U Mumba have been oscillating between the Safe mode and unforced errors. Their ultra-tactics may be due to the talent available but that has not allowed them to earn valuable points. They have been hovering between the 5th and 7th position in the points table throughout the tournament. But sparks fly whenever these 2 sides clash and we expect the same again. Dabang Delhi beat U Mumba in their last encounter which was played on 24th December 2021. Naveen Kumar blasted the Mumba defence to earn 17 raid points. This is 2022 and Dabang will be entering the mat without Naveen.

Mumba have a great opportunity to avenge their defeat and squeeze past a few teams to move up in the points table. Mumba will just hope that Naveen should not be fit enough and surprise them by playing this game!

Dabang Delhi K.C. Preview

Dabang Delhi are comfortably placed at the top of the points table after playing 14 games out of which they have won 8. They suffered a major blow with Naveen Kumar getting injured at the start of the new year. Add to the trouble, Joginder Narwal also had to sit out a game due to fitness issues. Though Naveen is still recuperating, Joginder is back and Dabang Delhi has bounced back with a big win over the Gujarat Fortune Giants after losing consecutive matches.

Hulk Sandeep Narwal has contributed to this major revival as he along with Vijay, Ashu Malik and Neeraj Narwal are doing what Naveen was doing single-handedly. Veterans Jeeva and Manjit Chillar have got Krishnan Dhull in the defence which has brought Dabang back on track. All-rounder Vijay has earned 79 raid points in 14 games while Hulk Sandeep Narwal has contributed 22 raid points in the last few games. 

Dabang have executed 240 successful team raids and 105 successful tackles in 14 games. They beat U Mumba in their last meeting and they will look to repeat the same performance. It will be interesting to see if Naveen is fit enough to play.

Dabang have to trap Mumba raiders early on and create pressure on them. Defender Krishnan has been a breath of fresh air in the Dabang defence and this has taken off some load from Manjit and Jeeva Kumar. This will be a great opportunity for Dabang to beat a slightly off colour Mumba and strengthen their position at the top of the points table.

U Mumba Preview

U Mumba have been perennial slow starters and it has been their trademark throughout the season. They are heavily dependent on their defence. They are currently 5th in the points table after playing 13 games. They have not been able to make inroads in the top 3 in this season and this is an area of concern. They are content playing safe and they are happy to force a tie instead of pressing for victory. This makes them vulnerable to stagnation. Though they have won their last 2 games, they have also tied consecutive games before that. 

Raiders Abhishek and Ajith are their pillars when it comes to raiding. Both have had a wonderful season though they are not as mercurial as Pawan Sehrawat or Maninder Singh. 

Even though defence is their strength, U Mumba has executed only 119 successful team tackles in 13 games. This is the reason they are forced to play safe. Out of 13 matches that they have played, 5 have been tied, this gives them the nickname “TIE specialist”. 

They have executed 197 successful team raids in 13 games while they have conceded 419 points.

Fazel Attrachali has been inspirational and fit. They need to improve on their consistency and defensive breakdowns. They will have to exploit Dabang Delhi if Naveen does not play. They will sincerely hope that Naveen is not fully fit as he looted 17 points from them in their last meeting.

Winning Prediction

This is expected to be a classic encounter between traditional rivals. Both the teams have a unique style of playing but both have had their issues. Mumba is maverick with its form while Dabang Delhi is back on track after injury scares to Naveen and Joginder. Mumba have more problems at their hand, especially in their defence. Fazel Attrachali has been inspirational but his tackle earnings have not been encouraging. They succeed when defenders Rinku and Harender are in full swing as they were against the Bulls in their last game. When these 2 fail to deliver, Mumba is crippled.

Dabang will try and exploit these areas so that Vijay, Sandeep Narwal and Ashu Malik provide them steady earnings. With the return of Joginder Narwal, Manjit Chillar and Jeeva Kumar are back to hunting in a pack. This will be another exciting contest with lots of fireworks and collisions.
