He was complimented by Surender Gill who too scored 14 points. Pardeep and Surender are the most lethal weapons that the UP Yodha has and their consistent performance is essential for the Yodha success. 

Gujarat Fortune Giants have won just 1 game out of the 4 matches that they have played. On occasions, they routed the Puneri Paltan in a high-scoring game while in the next one they succumbed to the Pink Panthers in a low-scoring one. This is typical of the Fortune Giants, but they need to start winning games consistently so as to move up the ladder in the points table.

The Fortune Giants have always been a maverick side. This characteristic helped them reach the finals in their inaugural season but backfired in season 8 as they finished in the bottom half of the points table. Life has been a mixed bag for them in season 9. They had to settle for a TIE in their first game and then they were thrashed by Dabang Delhi. They came back in style to beat Puneri Paltan in a high-scoring, high-intensity game. Next, they got a taste of their own medicine as Jaipur Pink Panthers strangled them in a low-scoring game.

New coach Ram Mehar Singh was quite animated in their last game as he seems to be getting anxious about the team tactics. It is still unknown why the Fortune Giants are not using the services of raiders Prashant Kumar, superstar Rohit and the huge Pardeep Kumar who had a brilliant season 8.

Rakesh has been impressive with 44 points from 4 games but he has not been lethal. Chandran Ranjit and Mahendra Rajput have been consistent. Gujarat Fortune Giants have raider Prateek Dahiya who is the new kid on the block and the upcoming “Dubki King”. He enthralled their fans in a losing cause with some innovative escapes and Dubki’s. 

But the Gujarat defense has faltered time and again. They earned just 6 tackle points against Dabang while contributing just 6 against the Pink Panthers in a low-scoring game. This has been a major concern for coach Ram Mehar Singh. Fortune Giants do not have a lot of variety in terms of defenders and all-rounders which will hinder their contingency plans. They will be relieved by the fact that they have a fantastic record over the UP Yodha as they have beaten them 4 times in 7 games. But they also have the tendency to TIE games against the UP.

U.P. Yoddha Preview

UP Yodha looks invincible at times and looks gullible on some occasions. Fortunately, Pardeep Narwal is back in form, Yodha fans were waiting for this moment since season 8. He scored 14 raid points in his last game as the UP Yodha beat the Bengaluru Bulls. UP Yodha rained successful raids on the Bulls in that game and their defense got the Bulls all out thrice in the match.

This is the way Yodha should be operating. They had terrorized most of the teams with this strategy in season 8. Unfortunately, they run out of steam in some games. UP Yodha has got raiding options in the form of Durgesh Kumar, Rohit Tomar, and Rathnesh. But their biggest strength is the quad axis of defenders Sumit, Nitesh, Shubham Kumar, and Ashu Singh.

These 4 defenders have earned over 22 tackle points this season. They just need to be more consistent. U P Yodha has lost to U Mumba and Dabang Delhi. Pardeep and Surender were neutralized by the Mumba defense in that game while the Yodha came close to upsetting the defending champions as they lost by just 2 points. Surender Gill looted 21 points in that game as the Yodha defense crumbled under pressure.

All these experiences should keep the Yodha in good spirits as they take on the Fortune Giants. Yodha needs to attack very early and thwart any attempts by the Fortune Giants to slow down the game. Fortune Giants have been a tricky team for the Yodha as they settled for a TIE and lost the next game in the last season against them. 

Dubki King Pardeep seems to have found his Midas touch while Surender Gill has been more than a sidekick to him. The Yodha needs to unleash both these raiders and hope that their defenders catch every raider in their range and send shockwaves across the Fortune Giants.

Winning Prediction

This will be a very tricky yet entertaining game. UP Yodha is in a better position after they beat Bengaluru Bulls convincingly in their last game. Yodha likes to score throughout the game. Pardeep will find it tough to repeat his performance against the tenacious Fortune Giants, but Surender will give him able support. Defenders Nitesh and left corner Sumit will be able to trap the Gujarat raiders. 

Fortune Giants will have to rely on successful raids by Rakesh and some pressure tactics by the defense. Fortune Giants will slow down the game to irritate the Yodha and may rely on Do or Die raids in the first half. Raider Prateek Dahiya will be dangerous, especially in the second half. If UP Yodha is able to take the lead early in the match, they will smoothly sail through the game. But the Fortune Giants may surprise the Yodha with guerilla tactics and some unusual moves. This game will decide the future of both teams this season.
