Tamil Thalaiva had a double dose of bad luck. Not only did they settle for a TIE against the Fortune Giants but their star player Pawan Sehrawat was seriously injured. He twisted his right knee as he was engrossed in a duel with Chandran Ranjit. Pawan had to be taken off the mat on a stretcher.

One of the most vibrant teams of season 8, Haryana Steelers had a dream start to their campaign as they got the better of the Bengal Warriors. Raider Manjeet was relentless and destroyed the opposition with ease. His first Super 10 of the season was a big one. This put the Steelers in a fast-forward mode very soon. Manjeet was able to exploit the brittle Bengal defense as he made inroads time and again.

Haryana Steelers have a good raiding trio of Manjeet, Meetu, and all-rounder Nitin Rawal. The Steelers looted 21 raid points in the second half of that game and none of their raiders were trapped by Bengal Warriors. Such was the impact of Manjeet.

Haryana Steelers have a very balanced defense with experienced Joginder Narwal in the left corner. Though he was out of the game for most of the match, he can guide the youngsters very efficiently. Defenders Mohit, Jaideep, and Monu were in devastating form as they hunted down the opposition raiders with relative ease. 

Jaideep Dahiya and Mohit had a commendable season 8 and they continue their good form this season too. The absence of star Pawan Sehrawat in the Thalaiva squad will further boost the Steelers. They say Fortune favors the brave, but Tamil Thalaiva seems to be still searching for some fortune cookies. After stunning everyone by getting Pawan Sehrawat in the auctions, their fans were simply excited for the new season. But fate had a different plan as the Thalaiva had to settle for a TIE and Pawan was seriously injured.

Pawan had to be carried on a stretcher and his right knee doesn’t look good. This is bad news for the Thalaiva as they were totally dependent on Pawan for this season. Their defense worked well against the Gujarat Fortune Giants but raiding will be a big concern.

Raiders Narender and Ajinkya Pawar brought some relief with their raiding once Pawan was injured. Left corner Sahil Gulia and right cover M Abhishek rose to the occasion trapping at will. This will inspire the Thalaiva to fight against the agile and sharp Steelers. 

Tamil Thalaiva has had a decent head-to-head record against the Haryana Steelers. They have tied 3 of their games while winning 2 from 7 previous encounters. This will give them a lot of hope as they will enter the mat without their main weapon. Coach Udaya Kumar is optimistic about Pawan’s ability in the upcoming games, but he will have to weave the same magic with younger players. All-rounder Himanshu was impressive in the first game. Other players like Himanshu Singh and Laxmamohan have a golden chance to showcase their skills for future games.

Haryana Steelers have a well-knit unit as well as a tested combination. Raider Manjeet will hope to continue his giant-killing spree against his former team. Haryana is blessed with a fantastic defense with Jaipdee and Mohit in great touch. They will try and exploit the new Thaialva raiders in the absence of Pawan.

Tamil Thalaiva needs to come up with innovative plans with young raiders. They need to make them fearless and agile. The Thalaiva defense will be up against an in-form Manjeet. If they are able to keep him off the mat for long, they will push the Steelers on the backfoot. Simultaneously, the Thalaiva raiders will need to stay away from Mohit and Jaideep and attack the experienced Joginder Narwal to create panic among the Steelers. This should be a high-scoring game.
