The northern derby is always a treat to watch. But the UP Yodha are out of contention for the next round as they are placed 11th in the points table. Haryana Steelers have been a very good team but they have performed as per their potential. They finished 7th last year even though they did not have many big names. Their only challenge was to maintain the intensity through the season. Hence they stole the show during the auctions as they bought Siddharth Desai for 1 Cr. Tactical expert Manpreet Singh is their coach who won the championship as player with the Patna Pirates and then took Gujarat Giants to their maiden final some year back. He infuses energy and confidence in young players to extract very good performances. 

They have won 10 out of their 17 matches this season. They defeated the Gujarat Giants in their last match. The Haryana defense was precise as it completely cut off the Gujarat raiders thus affecting their earnings. Raider Vinay complemented this with 9 raid points. This helped the Steelers win the match by 4 points. Left corner Mohit and right cover Mohit Nandal were in hot form. The Steelers need to maintain this intensity in all their remaining matches. 

The Haryana Steelers are largely dependent on their trump card, defender Jaideep who can be devastating at times with his tackles. He is quick on the mat and Jaideep will be expected to trouble the UP raiders in this match.

The Haryana Steelers are known for their tactical brilliance due to the presence of their ever animated coach Manpreet. He will use the services of veterans like Chandran Ranjit and Prapanjan effectively. Manpreet worked with Prapanjan during his stint with Gujarat Giants and this association may prove to be the trump card for the Steelers. Apart from the regular raiders, Haryana has multiple raiding options in the form of Vinay, Ghanshyam Magar, Iraqi player Hasan Baibool and specialist like left raider Jayasoorya, Shivam Patare and Vishal Tate. 

The Steelers have always troubled the UP Yodha in almost all seasons when they have faced each other. They forced a tie in season 7 as well as season 8. Haryana Steelers lost to the Yodha early in this season. The defeat was a massive one as the Steelers lost by a margin of 30 points. But times have changed for the Steelers as they will look for revenge in this upcoming game.

U.P. Yoddha Preview

The UP Yodha will have to pack their bags post the league stage. They have been able to win just 4 out of their 18 matches due to which they are placed 11th in the points table. Raider Surinder Gill spearheaded their attack while Pardeep played second fiddle. But both are unavailable. Hence the young and inexperienced UP team will have to punch above their weight. New stars have to rise in the absence of the old ones. 

UP Yodha lost their last match to the Tamil Thalaiva. In the absence of Pardeep, they fielded youngsters like Gagana Gowda, Mahipal and Anil Kumar. The trio had a decent outing considering that Mahipal and Anil haven’t got enough games. Captain Sumit led the defense but he was scratchy. Right cover Ashu Singh scored 3 tackle points but it was an uphill task for these youngsters to beat the strong Tamil team. All-rounders Nitin Panwar and Gurdeep were effective in their first match but defender Harender disappointed. Hence the Yodha will have to resonate well in their second game against the Haryana Steelers. 

UP Yodha surprised everyone including themselves as they defeated U Mumba earlier in the week. This was huge victory after a long time for their fans. It was the combined effort of the raiding trio part from defender Sumit who scored 7 tackle points. The Yodha will have to repeat this against the Haryana Steelers. UP will take inspiration from the fact that they smashed Haryana by 30 points in their first meeting of season 10. 

Unfortunately for the Yodha, they do not have many cover options in their squad apart from Harender Kumar. If he is not able to perform well in that position, the Yodha will have to rely on all-rounders which can be a big risk. It will also be interesting to see how the UP Yodha plans to trap Giant Siddharth Desai. Their defense will have to be proactive else some big raids will push them back to the wall.

Winning Prediction

Haryana Steelers are a few steps away from the eliminators but they have to face the UP Yodha before. Haryana will be looking for redemption as they had lost to the Yodha in their first league match. Captain Jaideep who completed 50 tackle points in the last match will aggressive from the first raid. He along with Mohit Nandal and Rahul Sethpal will trap the UP raiders. Raider Vinay will score a Super 10 while Siddharth Desai will be useful. 

The UP Yodha will struggle with their young raiders. None of them will be able to complete a Super 10. But the UP defense will be spicy as Sumit, Hitesh and Ashu Malik will trouble the Haryana raiders. But the Yodha might lose intensity in the second half. They will also concede at least 2 all-outs in the match. The second half will be exciting as the Steelers will intensify their attacks and both teams will leak points due to unforced errors.
