If a PKL Dream team has to be constituted, one cannot miss Pardeep Narwal & Monu Goyat. Both will be star raiders for their teams as Patna take on Haryana.

Patna Pirates executed a daring heist against the Haryana Steelers in their opening ecounter with Monu Goyat scoring a Super 10 and Prashant Rai and Sachin Tanwar giving able support. Hence their raiding department is sorted. 

UP Yodha fought valiantly against defending champions Bengal Warriors only to loose steam in the second half. Yodha are heavily dependent on Pardeep Narwal. 

Both teams are very strong in their defence especially through the left corner, hence this may not be a very high scoring match. Pardeep Narwal will have to look at new ways of eluding the opposition defender if he has to score big for his team.

But Haryana have a better raiding attack with all their raiders in top form, this will put a lot of pressure on the Yodha defence. Expect a delicious encounter between the best raiders in the business.

Patna Pirates Preview

Some teams and players are made for each other, that is the story of Patna Pirates and Pardeep Narwal. But gone are those days and now the responsibilities are on the able shoulders of Monu Goyat. Very few teams have dominated the mat like the Pirates. 

Top three raiders for Patna, Mony, Prashanth and Sachin earned 8 bonus points in the first match and this helped the Pirates steal the match. They look like a well oiled machine as with their All Rounders Mohammedreza chipping in with a couple of points.

Slow starters, Pirates will have to relook at their strategy in the first half where they score big in the raids but leak lot of points in their defence. They have some good options in the defence with Shubham Shinde and Sourav Gulia. What works for the Pirates is the additional support from Prashanth Rai and Sachin Tanwar who have taken the load off the shoulders of Monu Goyat. If they keep scoring in tandem, it will be difficult to stop the rampaging Pirates.

U.P. Yoddha Preview

Yodha’s have roped in the best of the best- Dubki king Pardeep Narwal this season. Pardeep Narwal has also proved time and again that he is a spicy raider, complicated to stop and highly consistent. He is also known to rally youngsters around him to create a formidable unit.

But the plot didn’t work against the Bengal Warriors who isolated Pardeep in the opening encounter. Though Pardeep could gather only 8 points from his 16 raids in the opening match, he will be hungry for more against his former team. 

The defence will need to resonate with captain Nitesh Kumar, Sumit and left cover Shubham Kumar who did well in the last match.

Young raiders like Srikant Jadhav,  Sahil, Rohit Tomar, Gulveer Singh along with Iranian Mohammad Taghi and Kenyan James Kamveti will need to punch above their weight in this encounter.

They have a decent 43% successful raids record with a healthy 39% successful tackles.

Areas of improvement- Steal more bonus points, increase super tackles and inflict more all outs.

● First man to score 1000 points in PKL, with over 50 super raids, holds the record for most super raids.

● Shrikant Jadhav with overall 148 raid points will be a good support for Pardeep Narwal. 

● As a team, they have 39 super raids and 66 super tackles.

Winning Prediction

Patna Pirates fought tooth and nail to earn their victory against Steelers. Hence they have have been tested. Under pressure they were able to perform. That is the most difficult aspect of the game as it can slip like sand through fingers within a few moments. Patna will have to improve its performance while tackling so that they can isolate Pardeep Narwal and build the pressure on the Yodha’s. Monu Goyat, Prashanth Rai and Sachin Tanwar have build a solid raiding party.

UP Yodha’s will have to come up with innovative defence policies so that they can keep Pardeep Narwal on the mat for the maximum duration of the game.

Both teams will have to be careful about not losing steam in the second half.
