Bengaluru Bulls surprised all by winning their inaugural bout as they beat the star studded Telegu Titans by 6 points. It was a total team effort as they trapped Siddharth Desai and Monu Goyat forcing the Titans to take them off very early in the match. Puneri Paltan haven’t gone the distance at the PKL but they have been a vibrant and an entertaining side. They have always displayed courage and tenacity even during lean patches. This time they have a fantastic team which displayed aggressive kabaddi in their first game. Coach BC Ramesh has some exciting young raiders in his team. Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat, Pankaj Mohite and Akash Shinde were very effective as they earned quickly in the first half of their first match.
What has surprised everyone is that Puneri Paltan’s inexperienced defense trapped the opposition at will. Right corner Alankar Patil and left corner Badal Singh displayed offensive tactics to earn 5 tackle points together. All rounder Balasaheb Jadav supported the defence quite well to bolster their team’s chances.
This season Puneri Paltan has added new flavours to their strategy. Primarily a defense heavy team, the Paltan has adopted an aggressive plan to surprise the opposition. They have groomed young raiders especially from Maharashtra who played very well a the recent National Games. The youthful exuberance and agility had given the Puneri Paltan a different dimension. They stunned the Pirates in the first half with their aggressive style in the first game. They will have to repeat it against the Bulls.
Last season the Puneri Paltan had the second best success rate in tackles but their success rate in raids was just 39%. They seem to have worked on this in the new season as they have become an all-round team. This will help them compensate for any loss in raids or tackles as the season progresses.
The Bulls began their season with an emphatic win over the Telegu Titans. Bulls led by Vikash Kandola were never in awe of the star studded Titans. They made elaborate plans to trap the top raiders and executed them with class. This allowed the Bulls to take a decisive lead in the first half. They got the Titans all-out twice in the game as well as earned 7 tackle points in the second half. Hence their defense looks sorted with the likes of Mahender Singh and Saurav Nandal securing most of the moves.

The surprise package for the Bulls in the last game was the raiding of Neeraj Narwal. The Bulls had a sensational season 8 and its still quite difficult for the fans to enjoy their game without Pawan Sehrawat. But this is a new season of “Full charge maadi” for the fans as they take on the Puneri Paltan. This time the Bulls will have to earn both in raids as well as tackles.
Left corner Aman as well as right cover Mayur Kadam will have to start resonating quickly as they were prone to unforced errors in their last game. Bengaluru Bulls will have to rely on team effort to fulfil their dreams of emerging as champions this season. Their match against the Puneri Paltan will be bit tricky as the Puneri defense is as spicy as their raiding.
