But they have learnt their lesson the harsh way and now they are set to upset some big teams as the race for the play-offs has begun. After languishing at the bottom of the table, the Puneri Paltan has moved up the ladder slowly and cautiously. They finally got the right team combination with the trio of raiders, Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat and Nitin Tomar. They also have a deadly defensive combo of right corner Sombir and Abhinesh. They have lost just 1 game in their last 5 matches and they will be looking forward to loot the Thalaiva.

The Puneri Paltan had a temporary blip as they took on the Fortune Giants yesterday. They were lagging till the end of the second half, but they came back in style to force a TIE. They won 6 tackle points in the second half as compared to the solitary tackle point by Gujarat. This comeback will help them in the final league games as they Paltan is peaking at the right time. 

The defenders are hunting in a pack. They have efficiently disintegrated the opposition raiders with their sharp tackles. Though Aslam Inamdar was isolated by the opposition, raider Mohit Goyat stepped in and earned a Super 10. This sudden resonance among the teammates has boosted their chances for the next stage. Tamil Thalaivas started off well when they earned a tie in their first match against the Titans. They showed the same grit against U Mumba, a match that they should have won. But then the inconsistencies got better of the Thalaiva who was pushed down the points table. They came back in style mid-season beating the best of the teams to move up to the 4th place in the points table. With a prolonged season, the Tamil Thalaiva was fatigued as they lost 4 consecutive games. Currently placed 10th in the points table they do not have much to play for except pride and honour. They gave tough fights to UP Yodha and Dabang Delhi in their previous matches but lost those games by 1 point. It looks like the Thalaiva is losing its sharpness. Veteran defender Surjeet could not play the last few games and this is a big blow to them. Replacement defender Himanshu scored 8 tackle points against the UP Yodha. But even this could not lift their spirits. They will be up against the Puneri Paltan whom they beat by 10 points on the last day of 2021. But the Paltan has come a long way while the Thalaiva has been roughed up.

Raiders Manjeet and Ajinky Pawar have been in excellent touch. They have scored 268 raid points between them. Third raider Bhavani Rajput has not been used efficiently by the team management. It was surprising that the Thalaiva’s played with just 1 main raider against Dabang Delhi. They could earn just 7 tackle points out of the 31 team points. Their strategies are quite surprising at times which takes away the sheen from the team. They still have 2 more games after this match, but do they have enough fuel in their vehicle to last the distance?
