Bengaluru Bulls started as favorites in their opening encounter against U Mumba but we decimated thrice in terms of all outs thus exposing the chinks in their armor. But they still retain the top spot in the points table after 15 games. Tamil Thalaiva looks overworked in the long season and their performance is like a pendulum clock. They are placed 10th in the points table and they have not won a single game out of their last 5 matches. They looked completely clueless as the Patna Pirates hammered them by 28 points in the last match. The Thalaiva’s have a good bunch of players but on various occasions they have failed collectively. They will need to pull up their socks as they take on the Bulls who look unstoppable even though they lost to U Mumba by a huge margin in their last game.

Tamil Thalaiva looked invincible in the middle of the season when they beat a few stronger teams. But the fatigue of a long season is clearly visible on the players as they have not been able to win a single game out of their last 5 matches. They lost to Patna Pirates and before that, they tied a game with Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Tamil Thalaiva looks fluid when they resonate together, else they look very amateur in their approach. They will have to repair this fault else they may not have enough points to make it to the play-offs. Raiders Manjeet and Ajinkya Pawar have 164 raid points between them and they are the best raiding combination. Raider Prapanjan is injured and may not be able to play the next few games.

Defense is their biggest strength but the Thalaiva’s have not been able to monetize this asset. Sagar and Surjeet are the best in the business with 82 successful tackles between them. Defender Sagar has executed 5  Super tackles and has the highest Hi 5’s of the tournament.  Raider Ajinkya Pawar is a DoD specialist with 26 DoD raid points to his credit.

The Thalaiva’s need to show some resilience as they are capable of upsetting bigger teams. The game against the Bulls will be a test of their temperament.

The Bulls have maintained their speed in this journey of season 8 and have been in the top 3 for most of the season. Hi flyer Pawan Sehrawat is their major contributor with a double century of raid points. He has been isolated in a few matches but Pawan has managed to come back every time and hunt effortlessly. He also has the highest number of Super 10’s and this augurs well for the Bulls. Though the Bulls have been at the receiving end in some matches, they also have faltered in their defense. 

They have conceded 20 all-outs this season and this is a matter of concern. They do not have any defender in the top 10 of the season and they have conceded 525 points which is the highest among all the teams. This means that while Pawan earns beyond imagination, the Bulls also spend lavishly. 

The Bulls have also executed 283 successful raids out of their 618 team raids. 

They have also executed the highest number of successful team tackles- 142.

They have 14 team Super tackles and 8 team Super raids.

Apart from Pawan, Chandran Ranjith has been their workaholic raider. Pawan could not score a Super 10 against the Thalaiva when they met last year. Left corner Aman and Sourabh Nandal have been efficient in the defense but Mahendra, Sahil, and Mayur Kadam need to improve their consistency.

Though the Bulls lost to U Mumba in the last game, they have a great opportunity to bulldoze the Thalaiva and maintain their top position in the points table.

This game will be the most important game for the Tamil Thalaiva as the doors to the playoffs are closing quickly for them. They look fatigued and clueless as they have lost 3 out of their last 5 games. Though they have the best defense in the business, they have not been able to exploit this asset. Sagar and Surjeet will have to trap Pawan early in the first half and keep him off the mat as long as possible. The Thalaiva’s also need to give raiders Manjeet and Ajinkya Pawar a free hand so that they can set panic among the Bulls.

Hi Flyer Pawan looks unstoppable and he looks very self-assured as he enters the mat. The Bulls are completely dependent on Pawan for a bumper harvest. The Bengaluru Bulls will need to be careful with their defense as they will be expected to not leak too many points to the opposition.
