Dabang Delhi got conned by the Tamil Thalaiva in their first encounter of the season. They beat the Bengaluru Bulls effortlessly in their next match but slipped against the Haryana Steelers in their 3rd match of the seaon. Captain Naveen Kumar scored a Super 10 as their defense broke down at crucial moments. They conceded 2 all-outs in their match against the Steelers. 

Both teams are looking to rejuvenate their fortunes. Telegu Titans are low on confidence while Dabang Delhi are falling short of intensity. Interestingly the Telegu Titans have a better record against Dabang Delhi as they have won 8 out of their 16 encounters. Unfortunately the Titans have not beaten the former champions since season 5. Telegu Titans will hope to end this long drought while Dabang Delhi are aiming to get back to winning ways.

The Telegu Titans are like that prodigy who never took off. Seems like the winds of season 9 continue to blow for the Titans in this season too. They could win just 2 matches last year and the trend continues as the Titans have lost their first 4 games of the season. Though the results may show a one-sided picture, Telegu Titans have played well in most of their games. Unfortunately, they have not been able to deliver the killer punch.

Titans came close to winning against the Tamil Thalaiva in their last match. At one point, Telegu was leading by a couple of points. While their defense was super strong, the Titans could not earn enough raid points to keep them in the lead. None of their raiders could score a Super 10. The defense earned 12 tackle points in the match with defenders Milad Jabbari, left cover Ajit Pawar and right corner Mohit hunting in unison. All-rounder R Sanjeevi scored 6 points which included 4 touch points and 2 from tackles. 

Pawan Sehrawat had a bad day at the office as he scored just 7 raid points from 17 raids in the match. The raiding efficiency was hardly 37% for the Titans in this match. They will be up against former champions Dabang Delhi. The major concern for the Telegu Titans in their lack of belief. They are missing on the “X” factor who could take them past the finish line. Whenever their raiders have done well, the defense has collapsed and vice versa. 

In 4 games, the Titans have conducted just 61 successful raids out of their 178 raids. Though they have executed 5 Super tackles they have conceded 178 points in 4 matches. Unfortunately the Titans have conceded 10 all-outs in 4 matches which is the highest among all the teams. 

Telegu Titans have used raiders Robin Chaudhary and Praful Jaware as the backup for Pawan Sehrawat. But if in case Pawan fails, one of the youngsters has to take over the responsibility. The Titans have a better record against Dabang Delhi as they have won 8 out of their 16 encounters. But these results came very early in the PKL. The Titans have not beaten Delhi since season 5.

Dabang Delhi K.C. Preview

Former champions had a lukewarm start to the season as they fumbled in their first match. Dabang Delhi were outwitted by Tamil Thalaiva. But captain Naveen Kumar and company had other plans as they avenged this defeat by thrashing the Bengaluru Bulls in their next game. Dabang won that match by a margin of 7 points thus setting up the northern derby clash with Haryana Steelers. 

Unfortunately, the former champions ran out of gas against the Steelers losing the match by a margin of just 2 points. This was a match that Dabang should have won. They led at half-time by 4 points but their effervescence was short lived as they faltered in the second half to gift the match to the Steelers. Superstar Naveen scored 16 points in the match but his partners could not complement. 

Currently Dabang Delhi is placed 10th in the points table with just 6 points in their kitty. They have conceded 5 all-outs in 3 matches which is a matter of concern. Delhi has conducted 59 successful raids from its total of 122 raids in 3 matches. The total number of raids conducted is also on the lower side which indicates that Dabang Delhi works on slowing down the match. This strategy may not work all the time and Dabang needs to be aggressive in their raids. 

Defense seems to be their strength too as left cover Himmat Antil has been impressive. Veteran Vishal Bharadwaj was scratchy in the first match but he made amends in the second game by scoring 4 tackle points. He is crucial at the left corner position but he is also prone to regular unforced errors. Defender Yogesh picked up a green card in the last game due to his aggressive antics. 

Dabang Delhi have dominated the Telegu Titans in the last few season. Though they have won 7 out of their 16 encounters, Delhi has not lost to the Titans since 2017. This will be their best chance to try out new tactics and get back to winning ways.

Welcome to the Balewadi stadium in Pune where the lackluster Telegu Titans take on former champions Dabang Delhi. The Titans need to believe in themselves as they are still searching for their first win of the season. Pawan Sehrawat will score a Super 10. Raiders Robin and Praful will resonate as the Telegu Titans will lead by half-time. Defenders Milad and left cover Aijt Pawar will trouble Naveen Kumar through the first half. Right corner Mohit may turn the tables with his aggressive tackles in the second half.

Dabang Delhi may lack intensity in the first half. Though Naveen Kumar will score another Super 10, he may not get enough support from the other raiders. But Dabang will pick up pace in the second half and inflict a couple of all-outs. Left cover Himmat Antil will be the key to their defense as the other defenders may fall prey to Pawan Sehrawat.

The second half of the match will be highly entertaining but looks like the Telegu Titans may execute an unexpected heist at Pune.
