The second of the triple panga on Saturday will see a deceived Bengal Warriors taking on the tired U Mumba side. Both teams showed a lot of promise mid-season but rang out of fuel. They looked fatigued as both teams have slipped consistently in the points table. The defending champions have now seen all the emotions of life, from holding the trophy last time to finding themselves at the 10th spot in the points table after 19 games. Even though Maninder Singh has been one of the best raiders of the tournament, the Warriors have not been able to use this as a launch pad. They have struggled in most games and their defence has suffered technical snags. They have not won any of their last 5 games.

U Mumba has looked like a child entering the examination hall without its hall-ticket. They have lost 3 out of their last 5 games. They spike once in a while again to close down like the mimosa plant. Initially it he season they were happy to play in safe mode, settling for TIE’s rather than go for the kill. This has come back to haunt them as they are not able to win matches in the final stage of the league. This will be a huge test for the U Mumba as any mistakes here on will make it impossible for them to move ahead into the next stage.

U Mumba Preview

It was a dream start for U Mumba in the opening game of the PKL when they got the better of Bengaluru Bulls. But a long season has taken the toll on Mumba who looked fatigued. They are placed 8th in the points table after playing 17 games and they are running out of time and points for the next stage. Their “Play in SAFE mode” motto has backfired as they have won only 6 out of their 17 games. Captain Fazel Attrachali has looked out of sorts in the last couple of matches, so has defender Harendra. Right corner Rinku has time and again executed Super Tackles all by himself. Right corner Rahul Sethpal and Iranian Mohsen Maghsoudlou look in good form, hence U Mumba should be able to handle the Warriors.

U Mumba settled for a TIE when they met the Warriors last month. Their defence looks equally out of sorts as compared to the Bengal Warriors.

U Mumba have executed only 262 successful team raids and have conducted 152 successful team tackles.

They have conceded 571 points in 17 matches.

They have inflicted 21 all outs and conceded 19.

The only issue with the U Mumba side is that they look ordinary in some matches and unfortunately for them many players have a bad day together. They will hope to be at their best against the defending champions.

Bengal Warriors Preview

The defending champions have not had a smooth journey this season. Except for Captain Maninder, none of their weapons have fired. That is the reason why they find themselves at the 10th spot in the points table with just 47 points.

Maninder has been amazing throughout this season as he has earned 231 raid points from 171 successful raids. He is massive and difficult to rein in for the opposition. Raider Akash PikalMunde has played well in the last few matches and this is a positive sign for the Warriors. They have to be careful on occasions as they look a bit confused and concede too many all outs and points. The Warriors have not been able to win a single game out of their last 5 matches. They lost to Gujarat Fortune Giants, Patna Pirates and the Haryana Steelers. To add insult to injury, they were forced to tie with Telegu Titans. They did comeback by forcing a tie with Dabang Delhi but this has come a bit too late. With this kind of performance, the knock out stage is out of reach for them. This will be unfortunate as the defending champions will not be able to stake claim for the title.

They have conceded 678 points in 19 games which is the highest among all the teams.

They have conceded 23 all-outs which has always kept them lagging in any match.

Against U Mumba, they have a slight advantage as Mumba does not have too many raiding options. Plus with Mumba playing in the safe mode, this could be the match from where Bengal Warriors can spoil the party for U Mumba and other teams.

U Mumba are running out of time and options in this season. They were placed in the top 6 for most of the season but the tides have changed suddenly and Mumba is slipping down further.  Though they have 4 more games after this, their squad looks fatigued and unable to press the reboot button. They will expect raiders Abhishek and Ajith to earn consistently and exploit the weak Bengal defence. But they have to be careful about their own guardians who have had butter fingers off late. The defending champions will expect the duo of Maninder and Ran Singh to ransack the Mumba team and create a new Highway to the play off for Bengal Warriors on a triple panga day.

Bengal Warriors will win.
