The Pink city will host UP Yodha and Bengal Warriors for the first time in this season. Earlier when these teams met in December 2023, they settled for a TIE. Both teams are running out of gas as well as opportunities to move into the top 5. Bengal is placed 10th while the Yodha has slipped to the 10th spot in the points table. The fans of both teams simply can’t digest the fact that UP and Bengal are not able to win games even though they have players like Pardeep Narwal and Maninder Singh. The defense of both teams is quite strong. Shubham Shinde and Sumit are in the top 5 defenders list, yet both teams seem to be slipping in oblivion.

As the season progresses, both teams will get a chance to test each other once again. UP and Bengal clashed on 18th December 2023 when their match ended in both teams scoring 37 points each. It was a match that the UP Yodha should have won. Since then the Yodha has gone through a lot of turbulence. They have slipped to the 10th spot which is quite shocking. The Bengal Warriors too have been over-powered by most of their opponents in the last few games. Hence this match will be a comedy of errors as both teams will be expected to revitalize themselves.

U.P. Yoddha Preview

The UP Yodha has been the most under-achieving team of the season. Though they started on a decent note, their last 5 outings have been disappointing. They have been able to win just 1 match out of their last 5. The Yodha has won just 3 out of their 12 games. They had a torrid start to the new-year as they lost to the Patna Pirates. That was followed by a defeat at the hands of Puneri Paltan. To add insult to injury, UP lost to the Tamil Thalaiva too. The players are the same but the output has dipped. The biggest reason for this debacle is the rusty form of Captain Pardeep Narwal. He has been decoded by most teams, but Pardeep was able to counter attack innovatively at the beginning of the season. But the last few games have been totally disappointing. Pardeep has scored just 9 raid points in the last couple of matches. He brewed a hurricane in the match against the Patna Pirates where he scored 21 raid points. UP Yodha fans thought that this was their new-year gift and the next few week would be sensational.

But Pardeep has lost his effervescence. Another major reason is the lack of form of all-rounder Gurdeep and raider Surender Gill. This has resulted in the Yodha becoming completely toothless. They still have few games where they can recharge themselves and push their team in the top 5. But this will take a mammoth effort.

Left corner Sumit is their lone warrior. He has executed 34 successful tackles in 12 matches. He also has 4 Hi5’s to his credit. But the other defenders have failed to impress.

UP Yodha has a success rate of about 39% in team tackles while the efficiency in team raids is just 36%.

They have conceded 450 points in 12 matches apart from conceding 19 all-outs. All these issues have bogged them since the new-year. They will be up against rivals Bengal Warriors in their next match. UP should have won their last encounter with the Warriors, but a last minute tactical blunder forced them to TIE the game. Hence this will be the most important match for the Yodha if it plans to script a comeback in season 10.

Bengal Warriors Preview

Former champions have got caught in a whirlpool of bad form in this season. With the best raiders and defenders on the circuit, the Bengal Warriors look a bit lost on the mat. Individually their players are performing, but as a team, the Warriors have failed to impress. Currently placed 9th in the points table, the future looks bleak. They redeemed themselves in the last match as they defeated the Telegu Titans by a huge margin of 19 points. The team was led by stand-in captain Vishwas in the absence of Maninder Singh. But this victory came after a gap of 4 matches. The Bengal Warriors lost 4 consecutive matches which shocked their fans.

Bengal Warriors have won 4 out of their 11 matches while they settled for a TIE in 2 games. It’s just about having faith in your abilities. Defender Shubham Shinde has been in top notch form as he has executed 37 successful tackles. He scored a Hi 5 in the last match against the Titans. But his teammates have not resonated with him. Vaibhav Garje was ruthless in the last match with 9 points from 11 tackles. He is highly talented but lacks consistency. The Bengal Warriors have not been able to forge an impregnable wall in most of their games. They have a very good efficiency in team raids and tackles but they have conceded too many points to their opponents.

Bengal has conceded 419 team points in 11 matches apart from gifting 15 all-outs. This puts them in difficult situations where they lose the match even though individual players perform beyond expectations.  Stand-in captain Vishwas was impressive in the last match with 8 raid points while support raiders Srikant Jadhav and Nitin Kumar have been consistent. Hence the Bengal Warriors are able to survive even in the absence of Maninder Singh. They will hope that he is back for the crucial encounter with the UP Yodha. Bengal also needs to improve its strategy and implementation as they have lost a few matches that they should have easily won. This was due to last minute blunders. Bengal Warriors settled for a TIE against UP in their last league match. The Warriors need to win every match from here on to stay in contention for the play-off.

Welcome to the comedy of errors as UP Yodha take on the Bengal Warriors. This match will be quite interesting as both teams are struggling. UP Yodha will be desperate to see Pardeep Narwal back to his old ways. He will start on a good note but will not score a Super 10. In fact none of the UP raiders will be able to score too much. Defender Sumit will be precise but the other defenders will leak points. All-rounder Gurdeep will perform better than the last match.

The Bengal Warriors will hope that Maninder is back. But even in his absence, the Warriors will earn heavily from their raiders. One of the raiders will score a Super 10 while the defense will be above average. Shubham Shinde and Vaibhav Garje will target UP raider Surender Gill. Overall the first half will be slow and both teams will play safe till half-time. But the Bengal Warriors will increase the intensity in the second half and set panic among the UP Yodha camp. This will be a match full of fireworks especially in the second half.

Bengal Warriors will win.
