Bengal Cricket Academy Ground Pitch Report
The pitch at the Bengal Cricket Academy Ground generally offers a balanced track that favors both batters and bowlers. However, over the last two years, the pitches have largely favored the batters, with high scores being recorded in the Ranji Trophy.
Although Bengal plays most of their domestic matches at this venue—especially in the Ranji Trophy—the surface usually favors bowlers on the first day. Like most other grounds in Bengal, a sheen of grass is left on the pitch, but as the day progresses, it becomes better for batting.
Day 2 is one of the best times to bat at this venue. From the afternoon session of Day 3 onwards, the pitch slowly deteriorates and run-scoring becomes difficult as spinners come into play. On Day 4, chasing can be challenging, but teams are not completely out of the hunt.
Teams winning the toss often choose to bowl first; in the last two seasons, teams bowling first won around 50–60% of Ranji Trophy matches. Bengal has also enjoyed significant success here, winning more than 65% of their matches.
